The prophecy of a Norse shaman sends two young girls on a journey across ancient Scandinavia and deep into the spirit worlds of the Vikings and the Inuit. Relying on their friendship, wits, and help from unexpected allies, the girls face adventures that challenge their very survival.

Troll Tale introduces the heroines whose line will span three generations in The Stuckagain Sagas. In a remote, wilderness valley of northern Scandinavia, two families—one human, the other troll—live in quiet harmony with each other and their land. But when a Norse sorceress, a wise and persuasive völva, sets the two young daughters of these families on a quest to find missing kin, their peaceful world begins to change.

The girls’ journey takes them across a rugged landscape steeped in Norse and Inuit mythology. Along the way, they encounter beings both wondrous and perilous: a family of yetis who serve as faithful guides and guardians across generations; forest sprites, beguiling and dangerous, who delight in luring wanderers astray; and Raven, the dark-winged, vigilant emissary of Tulugaq, the Inuit Spirit Raven. They are taken to sea by Vikings, led by Ship-Chief Rikr and his sharp-eyed mate Jiohna. And above it all looms Odin, powerful and all-seeing, shaping events with an unseen hand.

With Troll Tale, the sagas begin.
